October 23, 2019 to November 11, 2019 Round-Tour

We were traveling for 3 weeks with Janaka on a very well organized tour in Sri Lanka.

The arrangement of the route and the desired hotel categories (we did not want to stay in foreign hotel goups and as far as possible prefers in smaller houses) was completely easy per EMail. The suggestion of Janaka for the sightseeing on the way, we have adjusted a bit on our interests. Everything went without problems and very uncomplicated, really great!

On the round trip we were well cared for and had a lot of fun together. The people are very friendly and helpful. They always made us feel welcome.

On the way I unfortunately sprained my ankle (realization: while running, look on your way!), which meant that I had to travel from then on with “crutches” on. Also with this, Janaka made sure that I was able to visit most of the interesting points, and also in the temple facilities, the strict rules were opened a bit, so that I had the opportunity to get to see these interesting and culturally important places.

Culture and attitude to life, landscape, agriculture, animals – on the way and in the Yalla National Park and also the coast was beautiful, we liked all this very much. We will remember a long time, on this very nice trip.

Overall, we were very well looked after from Janaka and could enjoy this great and versatile country and the lot off information. Many thanks to Janaka and all those who helped us, to take these good travel experiences and great memories home with us.

Wir hatten Janaka kurzfristig für eine 6 Tage Rundreise gebucht. Dies ging super problemlos über Email. Janaka hat uns vom Flughafen abgeholt und in unser Resort gebracht. Wie vereinbart kam er uns 6 Tage später abholen im Resort und schon könnten wir die Rundreise beginnen. Zuerst ging es in den Uda Walawe National Park wo wir ganz viele Elefanten gesehen haben. Von Ella hat er uns eine Zug Reise nach Nuwara eliya organisiert die wunderbar war mitten durch das Hochland. Dann ging es weiter nach Kandy eine Stadt die uns sehr gefallen hat und janaka ein super Führer war. Weitere Highlights waren sirigiya und Polonnaruwa wo er immer auf unsere Bedürfnisse eingegangen ist. Wichtig ist zu erwähnen das der Verkehr anstrengend ist aber Janaka ein super Fahrer ist. Zurück im ambalangoda seiner Heimatstadt hat er für uns Hotels gesucht und uns somit einen tollen Urlaub gestaltet. Janaka ist ein wunderbarer Mensch und Guide den ich nur empfehlen kann denn es hilft ungemein einen einheimischen an der Seiten zu haben. Vielen Dank Janaka für deine Geduld und Herzlichkeit

Anche quest’anno ci siamo affidati nelle mani di Janaka che come ogni anno non ci delude mai!

Questa volta abbiamo preferito fare due giorni a Nuwara Eliya ( dove abbiamo potuto fare per la prima volta il famoso tratto con il treno tra il verde e le piantagioni di te, consigliatissima poi una visita al Nine Arch dove state certi vi lascerà senza parole! ) poi nel tratto tra la montagna e il mare ci ha portati ad Elephant Transit Home – Uawalawa un posto dove potrete vedere 52 cuccioli di elefanti bere il latte e infine il nostro giretto si è concluso nella bella spiaggia di Mirissa!!

Just returned from two weeks Sri Lanka (July 2019) and we were so lucky to have travelled this beautiful country with JK Tours. We doubted at first if we would hire a driver at all, but I am so glad we did. Yes we could have done it ourselves but after this experience I am now very convinced that JK Tours made our holiday from very nice to something spectacularly special! And I would recommend all travelers: spare yourselves the hassle and hire a professional tour operator and if you do so: choose JK Tours Lanka!!!!! Sarat is a very reliable driver, always on time in a spotless aircon van, always friendly and good humoured, and very service oriented. Not only did he drive us safely to all the spots we wanted to, but provided extra trips and excursions we hadn’t even thought of and it made our holiday so much more fun. We started in Negombo and drove all the way from Dambulla to Kandy to Nuwara Elija to Yala to Galle and back to Colombo. Yes we did the tourist map! Sarat drove safely and knew his way throughout Sri Lanka very well. Pointed out all different places of interest and when at one time our accommodation wasn’t quite what is was supposed to be, he immediately undertook action and we ended up in a much better hotel at the lake in Nuwara Elija. When our little girl fell ill, she stayed with Sarat in the airco van while we visited a gem mine, and he took very good care of her, buying her drinks and biscuits! The safari he arranged for us in Kaudula with so many elephants was unforgettable and how we laughed when we encountered an elephant on the road outside of Yala:-) (not to forget the Yala tour was also very special!!) We ate in modest and luxurious restaurants but also samosa’s on the side of the road (upon MY request because Sarat wasn’t sure if it was safe enough for us!). In Galle, Janaka joined the party and he toured us through the old fort, where we found out that besides English he also speaks the German language fluently! He directed us to the best beach spot ever with curries AND Dutch pancakes (haha) and proved to be an excellent negotiator when husband wanted to buy antique VOC coins as a souvenir! We lingered at the beach in the south and although there wasn’t enough time left we did visit some highlights in Colombo because the girls wanted so much to see the capital. The Boat Safari there was another brilliant idea! These are examples of how JK Tours adjusted quickly to our specific wishes. They understand when a family with three adolescent daughters need to relax privately at a beach, need a proper washroom, or should be introduced to another aspect of Sri Lankan culture otherwise. Even after the tour had ended, their care and service didn’t stop. How sweet to receive a phone call from Sarat, he wanted to make sure we arrived in the Maldives safely! Dear Janaka and Sarat, a big hug from us. Thank you for an unforgettable holiday and sharing your thoughts upon Sri Lanka with us, which made your country even more interesting and worthwhile to us! Wir wollten ursprünglich nur einen Mietwagen buchen und selbst die Insel mit der Familie erkunden. Nach den Anschlägen im April änderten wir unsere Meinung und entschieden uns für Janaka. Mit ihm haben wir einen sehr herzlichen, geduldigen, lustigen und ehrlichen Fahrer gefunden, der immer flexibel auf Wünsche reagierte, wertvolle Tipps auf deutsch und englisch gab und uns vieles über sein tolles Land erzählte. Wir hatten zu keiner Zeit Angst vor Anschlägen und fühlten uns stets sicher. Vielen Dank, lieber Janaka, für den tollsten Urlaub überhaupt…wir werden Dich und die vielen wilden Elefanten unterwegs vermissen!

Janaka accompanied us for 2 weeks as our local guide. He completely took the stress out of our travelling, he was always on time for pickups, acted as our translator and negotiator, and was always full of tips and advice. Nothing was too much trouble and he was fantastic with kids as well. I would definitely recommend him.

My family and I recently returned from a five night trip to Sri Lanka and Janaka was fantastic. We spent two nights in Kandy (Ozo Kandy hotel was great) and then three nights at the beach in Unawatuna. Janaka was an extremely warm, patient, knowledgeable, honest, and flexible host and guide. During the trip we realized we didn’t want to spend so much time driving so he quickly helped us adjust our itinerary. Later in the trip we had to switch hotels because of issues out of his control and he helped us make a smooth transition so we didn’t waste any of our precious holiday time. From the time he met us at the airport we knew we had hired the right person. A family man himself, he was especially considerate to our girls – age 5, 7, and 9. Look no further, Janaka will do whatever it takes to make your trip to beautiful Sri Lanka memorable!

We are villa owners in Sri Lanka and have used Janaka both for ourselves and for our guests for many years for airport transfers, day tours and longer island tours. We and our guests have found him to be a safe driver and so much more as a knowledgeable guide fluent in English. Just returned from two weeks in Sri Lanka with my wife and two daughters (1 and 3).

Janaka took us on a couple of day trips and drove us from South Eastern to Central Sri Lanka. He was really professional, kind, knowledgeable and a fantastically safe driver with a great van. He was particularly good at never giving the hard sell and understanding that with young kids less is more. We tried a few orher drivers before Janaka and he was the nest by far.
